Final Positions for the year:

MEN 3rd and probably where we should have been as we struggled to get regular pairs out all season, Saturday doesn’t seem to be our day!!

LADIES 3rd and missed an opportunity to get promoted considering we beat the top 2 teams 7-2 each time, we then couldn’t field a team for 2 other matches and won a third pretty easily.. a little disappointing really as the ladies have the beating of this league but can’t seem to muster enough people to get the job done… maybe next year???

Rnd 5

Ladies team vs Bassett away 15th July:

re-arranged as it was ladies finals day and no one wanted to play on that day, but is being moved to early September.

Mens team vs Riverside  away 16th July:

conceded as it was mens finals day and no one wanted to play, lost 0-9

Rnd 4

Mens team vs Totton & Ealing Home 17th June:

A tight and tense affair with 6 out of the 9 matches being decided on 3rd set T/B’s !!! which was split evenly between the teams- however it was us, Kingsley that eventually prevailed and won the match 5-4. A special mention should go to Colin and Keith our 3rd pair, who played so well, but somehow after winning the 1st set of all 3 of their matches, then went onto to lose!!! practice needed on deciding T/B’s boys!!! and Andrea/ Paul who left it late and managed to scrape past the 3rd pair with a 14-12 win in a deciding T/b set!!!

The team: Colin Jakeway/Liam Seager,  Andrea Casella/Paul Zoltowski, Keith May/Colin Martin

Ladies team vs Bassett away 17th June:

Unfortunately the ladies were unable to field a team against Bassett and had to concede 0-9. This dents their title hopes and the percentages, but it is still possible to win the league providing they bring home the bacon in the next 2 matches!!!!

Rnd 3

Mens team vs Avenue 3rd June away:

A difficult second match with scratch pairs for all 3 pairings and they were left a little out in the cold on a sunny afternoon on beautiful grass courts down near Havant. The match was lost 2-7 with only Liam Vacher/ Will Wheeler winning anything, but the team will pick itself back up as we have 2 home matches coming up and that should see us in a better position by the end of those 2 matches..

The team: Liam Vacher/ Will Wheeler, Colin Martin/ Paul Zoltowski, Keith May/ Luke Newland

Rnd 2

Mens team vs Avondale 20th May away:

On a not so sunny afternoon, the men started their campaign with a narrow 5-4 victory away at Avondale on wet heavy astro turf courts – not the nicest of experiences for us indoor lovers of tennis… but a win is a win and it sets up the next match. Well done to Colin and Alex at no.1 pair as they managed to secure all 3 matches leaving the other 2 pairs to eek out a win each.

The team: Alex Peer/ Colin Jakeway, Andrea Casella/ Paul Zoltowski, Colin Martin/ Keith May

Ladies team vs Milford 20th May Home:

Another fab win with possibly our strongest team out and it showed!!! and it probably would have been 9-0 if Gill hadn’t injured herself at the beginning of the second round, which meant we lost those next 2 matches but still a pleasing victory for the ladies as they move to top of the table after 2 rounds and with the next match possibly being the key one against Bassett on 17th June!!!

The team: Leslie Johnson/ Natalie McIntosh, Susannah Morrogh/ Eliza Wheeler, Helen Johnson/Gill Crane

Rnd 1

Ladies team vs Lyndhurst 6th May away:

What a great start by our team this year as they travelled away and got a resounding 7-2 victory and we blooded 2 new youngsters in the process…and our first pair of Leslie Johnson and Natalie McIntosh only dropped 2 games in 6 sets.. impressive!!!! and which leaves us in good spirit for the following matches, so well done team, onwards and upwards in 2 weeks time.. no pics though 🙁

The team:Leslie Johnson/Natalie McIntosh,  Kate Barnden/Sam McCouig, Sophie Zoltowski/Lucy Peer
