Centre Manager & Tennis Director

Colin Jakeway has been involved with the centre since its beginning in 1987, firstly as a player, then as a coach and now as the Manager and Tennis Director at the centre. As well as spending time here at the centre, Colin worked for the LTA as the County Performance Officer for Hants & IOW LTA for 5 years where he gained much experience of junior national and international standards. He ran the County Training programme and the coaching staff involved, taking the County teams to several national finals and improving the overall performance level of the County.

Since leaving the LTA in 2000, Colin has continued to teach all standards at the centre, but can often be seen behind the scenes organising the next function or activity for the members. His current ambition is:

'To provide a well equipped tennis club for all ages to enjoy, and to establish a programme of coaching & competition where talent and ambition can flourish.'

His most recent step towards his goal has been to secure the building of 4 indoor courts on the site, with more facilities to follow in the future.

Head Performance Coach

Oli Meager is a CCA Performance qualified coach, with a recommendation to go on to the highest level, the PCA, and has been teaching Tennis for nearly 7 years.

Before joining Kingsley Tennis Centre on a full time basis in August 2006, Oli gained experience teaching all levels away from the centre. Oli is no stranger to the centre however, as he hit his first tennis ball here at the club some 16 years earlier in the club's mini tennis sessions. He played through our junior section and has been involved with our senior teams, with considerable success.

At 18, he moved away from the club to study Sport, Health and Fitness Management at University, whilst also training at a very high level to enable him to compete in international tournaments, thus gaining a wealth of knowledge that he is now able to provide to aspiring youngsters.

Oli has had considerable success teaching both children and adults to play the game, with a particular interest in performance tennis, physical conditioning and sports psychology, and still plays the game to a very high level.

Oli continues to spearhead the coaching at the centre and has already introduced new ideas/formats such as 'Cardio Tennis' and 'Tiny Tots'. He is continually looking to expand the centre's programmes to help more players with their Tennis, with a real focus on performance tennis using an interdisciplinary approach.

Tennis Leaders

We have a number of LTA qualified 'Tennis Leaders' who regularly help out with the centre's Mini Tennis sessions. Some of these Tennis Leaders are also available for hitting sessions.
